BYD is currently offering three all-electric models. The Atto 3 is an SUV crossover with an estimated 261 miles of range. The BYD Dolphin is a small hatchback SUV with an estimated range of up to 265 miles and the flagship BYD Seal is a 4-door saloon with a range of up to 354 miles.
Extensive research and development efforts have been invested in BYD's car batteries, particularly the BYD Blade Batteries. These batteries not only aim to enhance efficiency but also prioritize safety in comparison to more common ternary lithium batteries. BYD conducted rigorous tests, including nail penetration and crush tests, to assess the Blade Battery's response. Remarkably, none of these tests resulted in negative outcomes, and the surface temperatures remained below 60 degrees centigrade. This stands in stark contrast to traditional battery options, some of which reached temperatures up to 400 degrees in similar tests. The results underscore the safety advancements incorporated into BYD's car batteries.
The Blade Battery is designed to provide a driving range exceeding 500,000 kilometres and, in some cases, surpassing 1,000,000 kilometres.
