Nissan X-Trail E-Power

The latest iteration of the Nissan X-Trail marks a significant improvement over its predecessor, particularly when it comes to passenger comfort. However, the most notable upgrade is the introduction of Nissan's exclusive e-Power drivetrain, which gives the vehicle an electric car-like feel while still utilizing a petrol engine. This means that you can conveniently refuel it with petrol every few hundred miles, just like any regular vehicle.

The E-Power boasts better fuel efficiency than a standard petrol vehicle, with fuel economy similar to that of a conventional hybrid SUV. However, the driving experience surpasses that of a typical hybrid SUV, with the petrol engine operating quietly in the background instead of constantly vying for control with the electric motor.

What is the Nissan X-Trail like to Drive?

While a large seven-seat family SUV may not be known for its exhilarating driving experience, the Nissan X-Trail manages to maintain control and balance during normal day-to-day driving. Although the steering wheel lacks any specific feedback, the X-Trail handles directional changes well without the cumbersome feel that other large SUVs possess. Its size is also deceptive, making it easy for the driver to manoeuvre it in the desired direction.

Acceleration is decent, though it may require some forethought before overtaking with a full carload. Despite the Tekna+ models coming with large 20-inch wheels, the ride remains comfortable for the most part. Cheaper models have smaller wheels, which offer a bit more comfort, especially on uneven terrain. The smaller wheels also absorb impact better, which can reduce the risk of punctures when driving on rougher roads.
