Key Information About Personal Contract Hire, Contract Hire and Additional Charges

Personal Contract Hire (PCH) and Contract Hire (CH) are fixed-term vehicle hire products designed for individuals (PCH) and businesses (CH) who want predictable monthly payments and are comfortable agreeing to the length of the contract and anticipated mileage in advance.

Maintenance can usually be included for an additional monthly cost, depending on the vehicle and finance provider.

Before proceeding, you should carefully consider whether Personal Contract Hire (PCH) or Business Contract Hire (CH) is suitable for your needs and understand the following:

  • DreamLease is a credit broker, not a lender. We can introduce you to a limited number of lenders and are not providing independent financial advice or acting as an impartial adviser. We will receive commission from the lender for arranging your finance agreement. The commission we receive will affect the amount payable by you under the finance agreement and is included within the rentals quoted to you.
  • PCH & CH are fixed-term, fixed-mileage hire agreements. You should ensure that the contract term and mileage allowance are suitable for your anticipated needs before entering into the agreement.
  • You will not own the vehicle and will not have the contractual right to purchase it during or at the end of the agreement. Your definite option at the end of the contract is to return the vehicle.
  • An extension beyond the original contract term is not guaranteed and will be subject to the agreement of the finance provider and any applicable terms and charges.
  • A maintenance package may be available for an additional monthly rental. Depending on the provider and package selected, this may include routine servicing, maintenance and replacement of certain wear-and-tear items and tyres. Coverage and exclusions vary, so you should refer to the applicable maintenance terms and conditions.
  • If maintenance is not included, you will be responsible for ensuring that the vehicle is appropriately serviced and maintained at your own expense in accordance with the manufacturer's and finance provider's requirements.
  • Most PCH & CH agreements can be terminated early, subject to the finance provider's agreement. Early termination charges will usually apply and can be significant. Please contact your finance provider or us for information about the applicable charges.
  • If the vehicle exceeds the agreed contract mileage, excess mileage charges will apply. These are normally calculated on a pence-per-mile basis. The applicable rate will be detailed in your finance agreement and, where relevant, your maintenance agreement. You should carefully consider your anticipated mileage before entering into the agreement.
  • The vehicle must be returned in a condition that meets the applicable BVRLA Fair Wear & Tear Standard and the requirements of your finance provider as detailed in your finance agreement. Damage or deterioration beyond acceptable fair wear and tear may result in additional charges.
  • You are responsible for fines, penalties and other charges incurred in connection with the vehicle. The finance provider or registered keeper may also charge an administration fee for processing these. Further information regarding these charges will be detailed in the finance agreement or other relevant information provided by the finance provider.
  • You must maintain appropriate fully comprehensive motor insurance for the vehicle throughout the hire period and as required under the terms of your finance agreement.
  • At the end of the agreement, the vehicle is returned to the finance provider. You therefore do not bear the vehicle's normal depreciation or disposal risk, although charges may still arise for matters such as excess mileage, damage or failure to meet your contractual obligations.
  • Unless otherwise agreed, vehicles will normally be supplied by driven delivery. Trailer or transported delivery may be available at additional cost. Additional delivery charges may also apply to certain vehicles, including some electric vehicles, and to some geographic locations. Where applicable, these charges will be communicated to you.
  • Rentals and other figures which are subject to VAT may change if the applicable rate of VAT changes

Understanding Your Quotation

Before proceeding, please make sure you understand the information contained within your quotation. The principal elements are explained below:

Vehicle Description – The make, model and derivative of the vehicle selected, including relevant information such as transmission, fuel type and drivetrain. Vehicle specifications can be changed by manufacturers and should be checked before ordering.

P11D Value and CO2 – The P11D value is based on the vehicle's applicable list price and factory-fitted options. P11D and CO2 figures may be subject to change, with final figures determined when the vehicle is registered with the DVLA.

Factory-Fitted Options – Optional equipment selected in addition to the vehicle's standard specification. These may increase the rental and/or P11D value.

Contract Term – The agreed duration of your finance agreement, normally expressed in months and commencing when the vehicle is delivered to you.

Contract Mileage – The annual mileage allowance agreed for the vehicle. Any request to amend the mileage during the agreement will be subject to the finance provider's terms and approval.

Initial Rental – The initial payment under the lease, commonly equivalent to 3, 6 or 9 regular monthly rentals. It is not a refundable deposit and forms part of the overall rentals payable to the finance provider under the terms of the finance agreement. A higher initial rental will normally result in lower subsequent monthly rentals.

Monthly Finance Rental – The regular monthly amount payable for hire of the vehicle.

Monthly Maintenance Rental – Where applicable, the monthly amount payable for the maintenance package selected, which is payable to either the finance company or third-party maintenance provider.

Total Monthly Rental – The combined monthly finance and maintenance rentals, where maintenance has been selected. Depending on the arrangements, payments may be collected by the finance provider and/or a separate maintenance provider.

Effective Rental – Where shown on a Business Contract Hire quotation, this relates to the rental after taking into account applicable VAT recovery assumptions. Your own VAT position should be confirmed with your accountant or tax adviser.

Excess Mileage Charge – The amount payable for mileage exceeding the agreed contract allowance, normally expressed as pence per mile. The final applicable rate will be confirmed in your finance agreement and, where relevant, maintenance agreement.

Vehicle Processing Fee – A separate fee charged by DreamLease for our services. This fee does not form part of your finance agreement or vehicle rentals. Payment is due when you place an order, we will issue an invoice which must be paid before your order will be processed.
